Douglas Duckworth Funeral Celebrant

Helping the bereaved with non-religious funeral ceremonies

Hi, I’m Doug, a funeral celebrant based in Newark in the East Midlands. I love being a celebrant, because when the job is done well it improves the quality of people’s lives by allowing them to look back on a funeral or memorial with a feeling that justice was done to the occasion.

I’m a trained and accredited humanist celebrant, which basically means I lead non-religious ceremonies, so I don’t do prayers or sing hymns (unless I really like the tune). But I don’t have a problem with other people saying prayers. It’s not my role to tell people what they should or shouldn’t have in a funeral. For me, it’s all about mutual respect and tolerance.

My tagline “professionalism without the stuffiness” is a quote from my client feedback. I was very proud to receive it because it’s exactly the impression I try to make. I take feedback very seriously and am transparent about it. You can find the quote in my feedback log which you can access here.
